An opportunity to visit Royal Albert Hall for a ‘Christmas Carol Singalong’. Clap your hands, stamp your feet and sing your heart out as Jonathan Cohen invites you to join in with Sophie-Louise Dann, the London Concert Chorus and the London Concert Orchestra. The show is crammed full of popular carols and favourite festive songs including: Once in royal David's city, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, Away In a manger, Merry Christmas Everyone, O Come, All Ye Faithful, Frosty The Snowman, Winter Wonderland, Let It Snow, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Jingle Bells, White Christmas & The Twelve Days Of Christmas. The Royal Albert Hall was built to fulfil the vision of Prince Albert (Queen Victoria's consort) of a 'Central Hall' that would be used to promote understanding and appreciation of the Arts and Sciences and would stand at the heart of the South Kensington estate, surrounded by museums and places of learning. The Hall is a Grade I Listed building; and has been in continuous use since it was opened in March 1871. It was always conceived as a multipurpose building to host not only concerts of music but exhibitions, public meetings, scientific conversations and award ceremonies. It is a registered charity held in trust for the nation but is financially self sufficient: it receives no funding from central or local government.
Day 1: We travel directly to our hotel to check in and freshen up before an early evening dinner before being transferred to the Royal Albert Hall for an evening of Christmas Carols, this annual Christmas Festival offers a perfect mix of seasonal music from Handel’s Messiah to a fun-packed Christmas Carol sing-along, returning to the hotel for a good nights sleep. Day 2: Following a leisurely breakfast join the coach as we return home via Oxford for a lunch stop departing at approx 14.00 to return home.
